This week in Year 5 has been filled with exciting learning and new discoveries!
In English, we had a fantastic time planning a sequel to our class text, How to Live Forever by Colin Thompson. The children used their imaginations to create amazing story ideas and characters, building on the themes from the book.
In Maths, we focused on addition, subtraction, and the inverse. The children practiced solving problems and understanding how addition and subtraction work together.
In PE, we had a great session learning Parkour! The class practiced how to land safely and used their agility to master different moves.
In Science, we explored the life cycles of mammals. The children learned about how mammals grow, develop, and reproduce, and discussed different examples from the animal kingdom.
In RE, we studied the Baptism of Jesus and talked about its significance in Christianity. The children were interested in learning about the different rituals and meanings behind this important event.
In Art, we explored the life of Pablo Picasso. The class looked at some of his famous works and tried their hand at creating their own pieces inspired by his unique style.
In PSHE, we discussed peer pressure and how it can influence our decisions. The children worked together to identify ways to resist pressure and stay true to themselves.
In History, we began learning about the Geography of Ancient Greece. The class explored Greek landscapes, locations, and the role of geography in shaping ancient civilizations.
What a busy, fun week it has been! Everyone has worked hard and shown great enthusiasm in all areas of learning. I'm excited to see what next week brings!
